Deschutes County Considers Major Solar Project North of Bend
Deschutes County commissioners are evaluating a proposal for a utility-scale solar project, Lava Bear Solar, on land north of Bend, Oregon. The project, led by Limitless Solutions and NorthRenew Energy, aims to generate 90-115 megawatts of power, potentially meeting a quarter of Bend's energy needs. The site, previously considered for an RV park and campground, is near a Pacific Power transmission corridor, making it ideal for solar development. The project is in early stages, requiring community outreach and permitting. An informational session is scheduled for August 13.
