Super Typhoon Sinlaku Strikes Northern Mariana Islands with Devastating Force
Super Typhoon Sinlaku, the strongest tropical cyclone on Earth this year, has made landfall on the Northern Mariana Islands, bringing sustained winds of up to 150 mph (240 kph). The storm has caused significant damage, including uprooted trees, downed power lines, and widespread flooding. The islands of Tinian and Saipan, home to nearly 50,000 people, have been particularly affected. Residents have reported severe structural damage, with tin roofs being torn off and vehicles overturned. The American Red Cross is currently sheltering over 1,000 residents across Guam and the Northern Marianas. The typhoon also impacted Guam, leading to flash flooding and affecting the U.S. military installations located there.
