Mississippi Students Avert Disaster as Bus Driver Loses Consciousness
In Mississippi, quick-thinking middle school students prevented a potential disaster when their bus driver, Leah Taylor, blacked out due to an asthma attack while driving on a highway. The bus, carrying about 40 students from Hancock Middle School, began to swerve when sixth-grader Jackson Casnave took control of the steering wheel. Another student, Darrius Clark, applied the brakes, and together they managed to bring the bus to a safe stop on a median. Kayleigh Clark, Darrius's sister, called 911, while other students administered first aid to the driver. The students' actions were praised by school officials, and they were honored at a school event.
