City of Lowell Unveils Garden of Peace to Honor Victims of Violence
The City of Lowell has unveiled the Greater Lowell Garden of Peace atop Fort Hill Park, a dedicated space for reflection and remembrance of those lost to violence. The garden features a large stone with a plaque stating, "We Remember Them," surrounded by individual bricks honoring victims. The initiative, which began in 2022 after Heidi Kimborowicz, whose son Adrian was murdered in 2020, approached the Lowell City Council, aims to provide a local sanctuary for families. The unveiling ceremony, held on the National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims, included a prayer, a reading of 17 names of victims, and remarks from family members, Mayor Erik Gitschier, and Lowell Police Deputy Superintendent Mark LeBlanc. The project received support from various organizations, including the Office of District Attorney Marian Ryan and the Department of Public Works.
