Iran Utilizes Chinese Satellite for Targeting US and GCC Countries
A Financial Times report reveals that Iran has been using a Chinese satellite, TEE-01B, to enhance its missile and drone targeting capabilities against US and GCC countries. The satellite, built by Beijing-based The Earth Eye Co, was launched in June 2024, and Iran's IRGC Aerospace Force gained access to it for $37 million. The satellite provides high-resolution imagery, allowing precise targeting of military and civilian infrastructure. The report links satellite passes to subsequent attacks on US military bases and civilian sites in the region. The arrangement between Iran and Chinese companies, The Earth Eye Co and Emposat, highlights the strategic use of commercial satellite technology for military purposes. Despite Chinese Foreign Ministry claims of responsible arms exports, the report suggests a significant role of Chinese technology in Iran's regional military activities.
