South Dakota Prepares for Severe Weather with Statewide Awareness Week
South Dakota, in conjunction with Minnesota, is observing Severe Weather Preparedness Week from April 13-17, 2026. The initiative, led by Kelly Serr, Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the National Weather Service in South Dakota, aims to encourage residents to develop personal safety plans for severe weather scenarios. Each day of the week will focus on different themes to guide preparation efforts, emphasizing the importance of readiness whether individuals are at home, work, or traveling.
