DeVos Family's Financial Support Boosts James' Michigan Gubernatorial Campaign
The DeVos family, prominent figures in the Michigan GOP, have significantly contributed to John James' campaign for governor. Recent financial disclosures reveal that Dan and Pamella DeVos have donated $6 million to a pro-James super PAC since 2025, with $1 million contributed in July alone. Additionally, nine members of the DeVos family have collectively donated $80,750 to James' campaign this year, totaling $108,225 for the election cycle. James, who is competing in the Republican primary against Perry Johnson, has also received substantial public support, with 8,300 individual contributions. Former Attorney General Mike Cox, who recently endorsed James, had spent $5.3 million on his own campaign before withdrawing. The primary winner will face either Jocelyn Benson or Chris Swanson, who are vying for the Democratic nomination.
