University of Michigan's Investigation into Sherrone Moore Costs $11.5 Million and Rising
The University of Michigan is conducting an extensive investigation into its athletic department and former head football coach Sherrone Moore, which has already cost the institution $11.5 million. The investigation, led by the Chicago-based law firm Jenner & Block, began in November 2025 following Moore's dismissal. Initially focused on allegations of an inappropriate relationship between Moore and his executive assistant, Paige Shiver, the probe has expanded to address broader cultural issues and multiple scandals within the department. Shiver has publicly described her relationship with Moore as manipulative and exploitative, claiming the university failed to intervene. Moore was fired in December 2025 and later pleaded no contest to misdemeanors related to the case, resulting in 18 months of probation.
