The forecast, prepared using a combination of traditional and modern meteorological methods, anticipates wetter-than-normal conditions in the southern U.S. due to El Niño, with frequent storms and potential for sleet, freezing rain, and heavy snow. The northern regions, including the West, northern Plains, Upper Midwest, and Great Lakes, are expected to experience near-normal temperatures with quick cold snaps, snow squalls, and blustery winds. The Northeast may see a mix of rain, sleet, and heavy snow, with small shifts in storm tracks potentially causing rapid changes in precipitation types. The Pacific Northwest is forecasted to have a more variable snow season, while the middle of the country may face frequent thawing and freezing cycles.
