Evanston Police Investigate Shooting Incident Resulting in Non-Life-Threatening Injuries
Evanston police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on the evening of April 21, 2026, on the 700 block of Howard Street. According to Commander Chelsea Brown, officers responded to reports of gunfire and found an adult male victim near the intersection of Elmwood and Greenleaf. The victim, who had fled the scene of the shooting, sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his arm and torso. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The police are currently reviewing physical and video evidence related to the incident, but no suspects have been apprehended. This shooting marks the first such incident in Evanston in nearly a year, following a previous case in June 2025 where a security guard was injured in a shooting at Evanston Hospital.
