HOA Seeks Eviction of 28-Year-Old TikToker from 55-Plus Community, Sparking Legal Dispute
A legal conflict has emerged in a Jacksonville, Florida, 55-plus community as the homeowners' association (HOA) attempts to evict Bethany Michel, a 28-year-old TikTok influencer. Michel inherited her late father's home in the Freedom at Arbor Mill community, but the HOA argues that she is ineligible to reside there due to her age. The community's regulations require that at least 80% of homes have one resident aged 55 or older to maintain their status as age-restricted housing. Michel has taken to TikTok to share her story, highlighting the HOA's decision to levy a $155,000 special assessment on residents to fund the lawsuit against her. Legal experts note that while Michel owns the property, ownership does not necessarily confer the right to occupy it under the community's age restrictions.
