WorkSafeBC Finds Dexterra Guilty of Safety Violations on Vancouver SkyTrain Lines
WorkSafeBC has confirmed multiple workplace safety violations by Dexterra, a company responsible for cleaning operations on Vancouver's SkyTrain lines. The inspection revealed six outstanding safety orders, including failures to provide mandatory health and safety orientation, maintain training records, and offer Hepatitis B vaccinations to workers exposed to blood and bodily fluids. Dexterra was given a compliance deadline of July 13, which they failed to meet. SEIU Local 2, representing affected workers, has criticized Dexterra for not addressing these issues and for withholding the inspection report from workers and the union. The union has called for Dexterra to comply with all safety orders and has requested a meeting with TransLink leadership, which has so far been ignored.
