Great Wolf Lodge Hosts Slide-a-Thon to Benefit Phoenix Children's Hospital Cancer Patients
Great Wolf Lodge in Scottsdale, Arizona, hosted a slide-a-thon event to raise funds for patients at Phoenix Children's Hospital. The event, held on a Thursday, marked Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September and was organized in partnership with the Phoenix Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. Forty patient families, most of whom had children currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, were invited to attend and many stayed overnight at the resort. Donors were granted early access to the water park from 8 to 10 a.m. to ride the slides. Great Wolf Lodge pledged to donate money for each slide ridden: $20 for the Wolf Tail, $10 for the Diamondback, and $5 for the Tree Fork, with a fundraising goal of $5,000. A spokesperson for Phoenix Children's Hospital stated that approximately 400 new cancer diagnoses are recorded annually at the hospital, meaning a child is diagnosed with cancer there every day.
