Tennessee State Parks Dedicates Dry Branch as 68th State Park
Tennessee State Parks officials have dedicated Dry Branch State Park as the 68th state park in Tennessee. Located in Hohenwald, the new park encompasses over 2,500 acres of forests and unique ecosystems. While officially dedicated, Dry Branch State Park is not yet open to the public. Tennessee State Parks is currently developing a master plan to determine public access and recreational opportunities within the park. The property, situated where Lewis, Hickman, and Perry counties meet, has been a focus for conservation efforts since 2003, with partnerships between the state and The Nature Conservancy securing the land. It will retain its previous designation as the Dry Branch State Natural Area, ensuring continued protection under Tennessee's Natural Areas Preservation Act. The park is notable for its unusual plant communities, including the federally endangered Tennessee yellow-eyed grass, which is found only in a small region of Middle Tennessee.
