Brain-Computer Interface Enables Gamers to Play Black Myth: Wukong Using Thought
At the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2026 in Shanghai, a new brain-computer interface (BCI) technology was showcased, allowing participants to play the game Black Myth: Wukong using only their brain waves. This non-invasive system captures and decodes neural signals, converting them into game commands. The technology leverages Steady-State Visual Evoked Potentials (SSVEP), where on-screen targets flash at different frequencies, prompting unique EEG signals from the brain that are translated into in-game actions. This development is part of a broader trend in BCI technology, which is also being applied in areas such as sleep monitoring, early warning systems for epileptic seizures, and anesthesia monitoring.
