Richmond Food Pantry Receives Makeover and 6,800 Pounds of Food from Food Lion Amid Rising Need
A food pantry at Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church in Richmond, Virginia, has received a significant makeover and a donation of 6,800 pounds of produce and shelf-stable food from Food Lion. This initiative is part of Food Lion's 'Great Pantry Makeover' program, which partners with local organizations like Feed More to identify and assist pantries in need. Twelve Food Lion volunteers from the region contributed by cleaning refrigerators, painting walls, building new shelves, and performing landscaping work. The pantry serves approximately 130 to 140 individuals every Tuesday and Wednesday, and its director, Wayne Robinson, noted a growing demand for services, with some clients expressing profound distress over their inability to feed their families.
