European Bank Provides €110 Million to Boost Ethiopian Agriculture Amid Climate Challenges
The European Investment Bank's international development arm, EIB Global, is set to provide €110 million to support Ethiopian farmers in improving productivity, expanding businesses, and coping with climate change. The Development Bank of Ethiopia will channel this credit line to local institutions lending to agricultural enterprises, with a focus on women and climate adaptation. This funding supports the third phase of Ethiopia's Rural Financial Intermediation Program, aiming to enhance access to finance, competitiveness, and resilience in the agricultural sector. The initiative targets smallholder farmers and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), emphasizing women's participation. The operation is expected to contribute to climate action and environmental sustainability, supporting rural communities' resilience to climate-related challenges.
