Nepal Experiences Contrasting Monsoon Weather with Rain in Hills and High Temperatures in Terai
Nepal is currently experiencing a day of contrasting weather conditions under the influence of monsoon winds. Heavy rain is forecast for parts of the hilly and Terai regions, while several southern cities are expected to record high temperatures, reaching up to 36°C. The Meteorological Forecasting Division predicts moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning across large parts of the country. Heavy rainfall is possible in one or two places in the hilly areas and Terai of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. Moderate rain and thunderstorms are also anticipated in many hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim, with parts of the Terai in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim also likely to receive rain. The monsoon low-pressure line is positioned slightly north of its average in the western region and around its normal position in the east.
