Israeli High Court Reveals Names of Brothers Indicted for AI-Generated Espionage for Iran
The Israeli High Court of Justice has allowed the publication of the names of two brothers, Meir and Yosef Nahum, who have been indicted for espionage activities on behalf of Iranian agents. The brothers, residents of Beit Shemesh and Beitar Illit, were charged with transferring mostly false, AI-generated information to Iranian contacts in exchange for financial compensation. The indictment details how the main defendant used artificial intelligence tools like Chat GPT, Grok, and Gemini to create false narratives and documents. These included claims of an imminent attack against Iran and fabricated stories involving Israeli military personnel. The court's decision to release their names came after rejecting an appeal by the defense attorney, who argued that publication could cause psychological harm to the defendants.
