Ottawa Business Owners Concerned Over Proposed High-Rise Development
In Ottawa, a proposal to build two high-rise towers near the Corso Italia O-Train station has raised concerns among local business owners. The development, which is currently in the public comment phase, includes plans for 543 residential units, commercial spaces, and a city park. Paul Flindall, owner of Capital Self Storage, expressed worries about the potential loss of local businesses, noting that relocating a self-storage operation poses significant challenges. The uncertainty surrounding the development has already impacted his business, with some potential clients deciding not to move in. The City of Ottawa is encouraging higher-density development around transit stations, which aligns with the proposed project.
