U.S. State Department Issues Travel Advisory for Azerbaijan Amid Security Concerns
The U.S. State Department has updated its travel advisory for Azerbaijan, urging Americans to reconsider travel to the country due to heightened safety and security risks. The advisory is at Level 3, indicating a high level of caution. Azerbaijan, known for its mud volcanoes and unique landscapes, has become a niche destination for adventurous travelers. However, the region faces ongoing risks from Iranian drone and missile strikes, as tensions between the U.S. and Iran have escalated since late February. Additionally, the presence of landmines and unexploded ordnance throughout the region poses significant dangers, particularly along the Armenian-Azeri border. The advisory also highlights concerns about terrorism, noting that attacks may occur with little or no warning.
