Cruise Ship Collision in Vienna Injures 14, Investigation Underway
A river cruise ship, Anna Katharina, collided with a lock wall on the Danube River in Vienna, resulting in injuries to 14 passengers. The incident occurred early Friday morning as the ship was navigating through the Freudenau power plant lock. Emergency services responded promptly, using ladder trucks to evacuate passengers. Six individuals were hospitalized for evaluation of back, neck, and chest pain. The remaining passengers were transferred to another vessel to continue their journey. Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision, with a technical defect being considered.
