NASA Launches New Earth Science Missions to Study Extreme Weather and Climate
NASA has initiated a series of suborbital Earth Venture missions to address critical environmental and atmospheric challenges. These missions, involving hundreds of scientists and advanced aircraft, aim to study phenomena such as wildfire-induced 'fire clouds,' agricultural emissions, air quality in urban areas, Arctic glacier retreat, and landslide triggers. The Injected Smoke and PYRocumulonimbus Experiment (INSPYRE) will focus on pyrocumulonimbus clouds, which form during intense wildfires and can create hazardous conditions. Other missions, such as FarmFlux and HAMAQ, will investigate agricultural emissions and urban air quality in cities like Atlanta and Mexico City.
