South Carolina Attorney General Announces Indictments in Major Drug Trafficking Investigation
South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has announced the conclusion of a multi-year State Grand Jury investigation, dubbed "Last Stand," which has led to the indictment of 31 individuals. The operation primarily targeted a large-scale drug trafficking network operating in the greater Charleston area, with connections to Mexican cartels. The investigation revealed that these cartels were responsible for bringing hundreds of kilograms of cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl into South Carolina through southern border states. The operation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Charleston Field Office, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), and various county sheriff's offices.
