Rep. Darrell Issa Calls for Accountability from Dr. Anthony Fauci Over COVID-19 Response
Rep. Darrell Issa has joined other lawmakers in demanding accountability from Dr. Anthony Fauci for his role in the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This call for accountability follows a Senate committee hearing where Fauci, the former White House medical advisor, invoked his Fifth Amendment rights, refusing to answer questions posed by Republican senators. Issa criticized Fauci's actions, likening them to those of Lois Lerner, who also invoked the Fifth Amendment during a 2013 committee hearing. Issa has been a vocal critic of the Democratic handling of the pandemic and opposed the $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill under President Joe Biden. The hearing, led by Sen. Rand Paul, focused on Fauci's handling of the pandemic and the origins of COVID-19, with Fauci maintaining that the virus likely originated from animal-to-human transmission.
