Israeli Citizen Charged with Espionage for Iran, Allegedly Provided Wartime Information
Nissan Aviv, a 39-year-old Israeli citizen from Bat Yam, has been charged with espionage after allegedly providing sensitive wartime information to an Iranian foreign agent. According to the indictment filed at the Tel Aviv District Court, Aviv engaged in contact with the agent through a Facebook dating group, initially under the guise of a woman named 'Sharon,' later changed to 'Brown Elizabeth.' Aviv reportedly received cryptocurrency payments in exchange for information on missile strikes, sirens, and civilian infrastructure during the war. Prosecutors allege that Aviv knowingly maintained contact with the foreign agent and provided information that could benefit the enemy, including updates on public morale and civilian infrastructure status in Israel. Aviv admitted to the acts during questioning, citing financial gain as his motive.
