Southern California Anticipates Relief from Heatwave with Upcoming Cool-Down
Southern California is set to experience a much-needed cool-down after enduring a period of intense heat. According to the National Weather Service, a gradual cooling trend will begin on Monday, with temperatures expected to decrease by one to three degrees initially, and continue to drop throughout the week. Despite the cooling trend, humidity and the possibility of mountain and desert thunderstorms mean that significant relief may not be felt until Wednesday. The heat advisory for most of Southern California, excluding coastal areas, expired on Sunday evening. However, temperatures are still expected to be high in certain areas, with downtown Los Angeles reaching 87 degrees, LAX at 79 degrees, and Burbank at 93 degrees. The coolest days are anticipated to be Thursday and Friday, with temperatures in the Valley ranging from the mid to high 80s, downtown Los Angeles around 80 degrees, and coastal areas in the low 70s.
