Strong Northeasterly Winds Expected Across Iceland on Sunday
Iceland is bracing for strong northeasterly winds as a large low-pressure system moves in from the southeast. According to the Icelandic Met Office, these winds will intensify throughout the day, with the most severe conditions anticipated overnight. The Ãræfi region, located beneath the Vatnajökull glacier in South Iceland, may experience particularly strong winds, leading to stormy weather. Meanwhile, the north-east is expected to have lighter conditions. Wintry weather, including snow, sleet, and rain, is forecast to spread across much of the country, although it will become less widespread by the afternoon, especially in southern and southwestern areas where drier conditions are expected. Temperatures are predicted to rise slightly, reaching highs of around 48°F (9°C), with the mildest weather in the south.
