Artemis II Crew Prepares for Return to Earth After Historic Space Mission
The crew of NASA's Artemis II mission is preparing to return to Earth after a historic journey that took them farther into space than any previous human mission. The crew, consisting of NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency's Jeremy Hansen, reached a distance of 248,655 miles from Earth, surpassing the record set by Apollo 13. As they prepare for reentry, the crew has been conducting tests and practicing scenarios to ensure a safe return. The U.S. Navy's U.S.S. John P. Murtha is en route to retrieve the crew upon splashdown, which is scheduled to occur off the coast of San Diego. The mission marks a significant step towards returning humans to the moon, a goal that has not been achieved in over 50 years.
