Bay Area Heatwave Brings Unseasonably High Temperatures
The Bay Area is experiencing a significant heatwave, with temperatures surpassing seasonal averages. Inland areas are expected to reach the mid-80s to 90s °F (29-32 °C), while San Francisco and Oakland will see highs in the 70s °F (21-26 °C). According to National Weather Service meteorologist Dial Hoang, this warm spell is likely to persist into mid-October, with the potential for temperatures to climb even higher if a high-pressure system strengthens. San Francisco could experience its first stretch of 10 consecutive 70-degree days in October since 2015. Coastal areas will remain cooler, with highs in the 60s to low 70s °F (15-23 °C). The heat coincides with major local events, including the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival and Fleet Week.
