Pasadena Residents Outraged After Mailman Caught on Video Attacking Neighborhood Peacock
Neighbors in Pasadena, California, are expressing outrage after a mail carrier was captured on video attacking a peacock known as Sugar, a fixture in the neighborhood. The incident, which occurred Tuesday afternoon, reportedly involved the mailman throwing water or liquid at Sugar, then a rock, and finally hitting the bird with a stick or club. Witnesses, including resident Gina Davis, described seeing Sugar collapse and struggle to move its wings, with one eye swollen. The mail carrier then drove away, leaving the injured bird. Residents acknowledge Sugar can be aggressive but believe the bird did not deserve to be harmed. The Pasadena Humane Society is investigating the incident and evaluating Sugar for injuries. The U.S. Postal Service has acknowledged previous run-ins between its employees and peacocks in the area, including a recent attack, and is investigating the incident caught on camera.
