Coastal Flood Warning Issued for Jacksonville Area
The City of Jacksonville’s Emergency Preparedness Division is actively monitoring a Coastal Flood Warning in effect through tomorrow evening. Coastal and low-lying areas are at risk of increased flooding, particularly during high tide tonight. Tropical moisture combined with a stalling cold front is expected to bring several inches of rain over the next few days, raising the risk of urban and low-lying area flooding. Additionally, nor’easter conditions are forecasted, with gusty winds up to 35 mph, dangerous surf, rip currents, and moderate tidal flooding. Impacts from Tropical Storm Isaias are anticipated to begin Friday afternoon as the system moves through the Gulf, bringing heavy rainfall and strong storms into the weekend. Recent rainfall has already saturated the ground, increasing the likelihood of flooding and downed trees due to loosened roots.
