Honolulu Initiates Extensive Cleanup and Recovery Operations Following Tropical Storm Lala's Departure
The City and County of Honolulu has commenced full cleanup and recovery operations as Tropical Storm Lala moves away from the island. As of Monday morning, all weather watches, warnings, and advisories for Oahu have been lifted. Despite improved weather conditions, significant storm-related hazards persist across the island, including saturated grounds, widespread power outages affecting approximately 50,000 customers, fallen trees, branches, and power lines, and localized flooding. The Honolulu Board of Water Supply has urged residents to conserve water for essential needs due to power outages impacting pumping operations. City departments and first responders are actively engaged in clearing roads, removing debris, and assessing damage. City offices, facilities, and services, which were closed on Monday, are anticipated to reopen on Tuesday, though some individual facilities may remain closed or operate on modified schedules due to storm damage.
