New Jersey and Alabama Water Systems Targeted in Cyberattacks
New Jersey and Alabama have joined the list of states targeted in a hacking campaign against water and wastewater facilities. The attacks, linked to Iranian hackers, have focused on industrial control systems (ICS) but have not disrupted water services. In New Jersey, Cape May and Woodbine water systems experienced phone system disruptions, while Alabama's Childersburg Water, Sewer and Gas system was attacked without affecting water services. The campaign has targeted ICS devices made by Rockwell Automation and other vendors, prompting warnings from CISA to secure operational technology.
