James Talarico's Competitive Edge in Texas Senate Race Amid GOP Runoff
Democrat James Talarico is gaining traction in the Texas Senate race, as indicated by a new poll from Texas Southern University. The poll, conducted from April 22 to May 6, surveyed 1,223 likely voters and revealed a tight race between Talarico and his potential Republican opponents, Senator John Cornyn and Attorney General Ken Paxton. Cornyn holds a narrow lead over Talarico with 45% to 44%, while Paxton and Talarico are tied at 45% each. The poll highlights the potential for a competitive general election, with Libertarian candidate Ted Brown receiving minimal support and a significant portion of voters remaining undecided. The Republican primary runoff between Cornyn and Paxton is set for May 26, with early voting already underway.
