Holocaust Survivors and Thousands Participate in March of the Living in Poland
Thousands of people, including Holocaust survivors from around the world, gathered in Poland for the annual March of the Living. This event, held at the Auschwitz concentration camp site, commemorates the six million Jews killed by Nazi Germany during World War II. Despite logistical challenges due to airspace restrictions linked to the Iran war, 50 survivors participated, some traveling from Israel. Revital Yakin Krakovsky, deputy chief executive of the International March of the Living organization, highlighted the persistence of antisemitism, noting its resurgence since October 7. The march, marking Holocaust Remembrance Day in the Jewish calendar, began at Auschwitz and concluded at Birkenau, where many Jews were murdered in gas chambers. Among the attendees were survivors of recent antisemitic attacks, including the mass shooting at Sydney's Bondi Beach during a Hanukkah celebration.
