A 10-year-old girl from Greensboro, Summer McCallum, was rescued from a rip current at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, by Derrick Moore, a 47-year-old teacher and father of four from Georgia. The incident occurred on Friday, August 7. Summer McCallum described the frightening ordeal, stating her feet couldn't touch the ground and the waves kept going over her head. Her uncle, Ernest McCallum, initially thought she was playing but quickly realized the danger and entered the water. Several good Samaritans, including Moore, also jumped in to help.
