CBS News Chief Correspondent Matt Gutman Accused of Sexual Harassment in Lawsuit Against ABC
Matt Gutman, CBS News' chief correspondent, has been accused of sexual harassment in a wrongful-termination lawsuit filed by Samira Said, a former field producer for ABC News. The lawsuit, filed against ABC, alleges that Gutman contributed to a hostile work environment by making 'sexualized' comments to Said during her employment at ABC News from May 2021 to March 2025. Said claims that on one occasion, Gutman initiated a discussion rating a female correspondent's appearance and reducing her professional standing to a numerical score based on physical attributes, with male crew members joining in. On another occasion, Gutman allegedly made a sexualized insinuation about Said having an after-hours date. The lawsuit also claims Said was wrongfully terminated by ABC after being denied medical leave and accommodations for medical conditions, including severe psychological symptoms after covering the Uvalde school shooting and a workplace injury. CBS is not a party to this lawsuit.
