Israel and Lebanon Resume Direct Talks Amid Hezbollah Tensions
Israel and Lebanon have resumed direct negotiations after more than 40 years, with discussions taking place in Washington, D.C. The talks, involving Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors, are facilitated by the U.S. State Department. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar emphasized that while there are minor border disputes, the primary obstacle to peace is Hezbollah, which he described as a shared enemy of both nations. Sa’ar highlighted that Hezbollah, backed by Iran, undermines Lebanon’s sovereignty and poses a threat to Israel’s security. The negotiations aim to address these issues and foster cooperation between Israel and Lebanon against Hezbollah’s influence.
