Richmond Community College Recognizes 11 Students as Way Scholars for Academic Excellence
Richmond Community College recently honored 11 students as Way Scholars during a special ceremony at the Cole Auditorium. These students, including Sarah Thompson, Johana Zapata Morales, Liam Stubbs, Jamesyn Quick, Kevin Molina Cordova, Daris McNeill, Mason Long, Gernai Johnson, Josh Hayden, Harley Davis, and Alexander Leon Hernandez, are recipients of the Buddy and Jean Way Guarantee Endowment scholarship. Established five years ago by the Way Family, the endowment provides annual financial support to top-performing students enrolled through the RichmondCC Guarantee program. The scholarship covers their tuition and fees, distinguishing them from traditional Guarantee students due to their exceptional academic achievements. The Way family, including Lee and Mike Way, who established the endowment in honor of their parents, attended the reception to meet the scholars. The family has a deep-rooted history in Richmond County, particularly in education and community service.
