Tropical Storm Bertha Threatens US Gulf Coast with Heavy Rain and Storm Surge
Tropical Storm Bertha is currently swirling in the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to bring heavy rainfall and a life-threatening storm surge to the southeastern United States. According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), the storm is projected to move near or along the northern Gulf Coast over the next several days. Areas including Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi are at risk of flooding and storm surges as the storm drifts westward toward Texas. Forecasters have issued a tropical storm watch for regions from Ochlockonee River, Florida, to the Jefferson/Plaquemines Parish border in Louisiana. Bertha is expected to strengthen before making landfall near New Orleans, Louisiana, by Wednesday.
