Waterbury Faces Second Water Main Break, Affecting 15,000 Residents and Businesses
A second water main break on Tompkins Street in Waterbury has left approximately 15,000 residents and businesses without water. The initial break was repaired early Friday morning, but a subsequent break occurred shortly after, just 10 feet from the first. Waterbury Mayor Paul Pernerewski stated that the city is working to repair the damage and has issued a precautionary boil water advisory. The city is using its Reverse 911 system to notify affected residents and is distributing bottled water at Municipal Stadium. The break has impacted the Tompkins Street area, Town Plot neighborhood, and Country Club neighborhood, with repairs expected to be completed over the weekend.
