25 States File Lawsuit Against Trump Administration Over New Global Tariffs
A coalition of 25 states, led by New York, has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration in response to a new round of global tariffs. These tariffs, imposed on 59 countries and the European Union, are being challenged on the grounds that they are 'arbitrary, capricious, and contrary to law.' The states argue that the administration is using the pretext of combating forced labor to justify the tariffs, which they claim are overly broad and do not align with the stated objectives of the U.S. trade representative. The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. Court of International Trade in New York.
