Pedestrian Safety Concerns Rise After Fatal Broadway Crash in Nashville
A fatal crash on Lower Broadway in Nashville, Tennessee, has led to renewed discussions about pedestrian safety. The incident occurred when 87-year-old Thomas Cahill ran a red light, striking four pedestrians who were legally crossing the street. The victims include Timothy Wedlock, who died from his injuries, and Matthew Gregg and Dianne Cooper, who remain in critical condition. Kathleen Broderick was discharged from the hospital. Cahill showed no signs of impairment, and investigators are still determining the cause of the crash. The Tennessee Department of Transportation is considering measures such as retractable bollards to enhance pedestrian safety.
