Tory Lanez Files $100 Million Lawsuit Against California Prison System Over Inmate Stabbing
Tory Lanez, a Canadian rapper whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, has filed a federal lawsuit against the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The lawsuit, seeking $100 million in damages, alleges that Lanez was improperly housed with an inmate who attacked him. The incident occurred in May 2025, when Lanez was stabbed 16 times by fellow inmate Santino Casio, resulting in a collapsed lung and requiring airlift to a hospital. Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. The lawsuit claims that the prison officials failed to take necessary precautions to prevent the attack, despite Lanez's high-profile status making him a target. Additionally, the lawsuit accuses the prison of unlawfully seizing Lanez's songbooks containing unpublished lyrics.
