More than 4,500 pounds of imported ready-to-eat chicken stew are being recalled in the U.S. because the products did not undergo the required reinspection after entering the country. Sempio Food Services Inc., based in Cerritos, California, is initiating the recall for approximately 4,596 pounds of stew imported from South Korea. The affected products include cardboard boxes containing pouches of 31.75-oz (900 g) “Sempio Korean Ginseng CHICKEN STEW CLASSIC” and “Sempio Korean Ginseng CHICKEN STEW RICH.” These products were manufactured on March 30 and have a best-by date of September 29, 2027. They bear the Korean establishment number “GIA15001” and shipping mark “MK-2026-0422-01.” The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall, noting that the products were shipped to distributors and retailers across eight states: Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
