DEP Issues Code Orange Air Quality Alert for Southeastern Pennsylvania
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Alert for Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties due to elevated levels of particulate matter (PM2.5). This alert follows a period of poor air quality caused by wildfire smoke from Canada and the northern U.S. While conditions are expected to improve across most of Pennsylvania, southeastern counties will see slower improvement due to delayed rainfall. Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities, especially those in sensitive groups such as children and the elderly.
