Former Obama Aide Adam Fetcher Charged with Felony for Alleged Debit Card Theft
Adam Fetcher, a former aide in the Obama administration, has been charged with a felony for allegedly stealing a co-worker's debit card to purchase kratom, a mood-altering substance, from a smoke shop in Minneapolis. Fetcher, who served as the Chief Communications Officer for the City of Minneapolis, was dismissed from his position in early July following a police investigation. The investigation revealed that Fetcher allegedly stole cash and bank cards from three municipal employees, spending hundreds of dollars in smoke shops. Prosecutors have charged him with financial transaction fraud. Fetcher previously held significant roles in the Obama administration, including assistant press secretary for the Department of Homeland Security and press secretary for the Department of the Interior. Despite earning nearly $200,000 annually, Fetcher is accused of committing these thefts shortly after returning from a rehabilitation program for substance abuse.
