CoSN Identifies Key Trends and Challenges for K-12 Education in 2026
The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) has unveiled its 2026 'top topics' that are expected to drive innovation in K-12 education. This initiative, part of CoSN's Driving K-12 Innovation project, involves a global advisory board of educators, technologists, and thought leaders who identify the challenges, trends, and technological tools that will shape the future of education. The topics are categorized into hurdles, accelerators, and tech enablers. Hurdles include attracting and retaining educators and IT professionals, ensuring cybersecurity and safety online, and promoting critical media literacy. Accelerators focus on building the human capacity of leaders, changing attitudes toward demonstrating learning, and fostering learner agency. Tech enablers highlight the use of generative artificial intelligence, data and information visualization, and tools for privacy and safety online.
