W.C. Miller Students Award Record $6,000 in Youth Philanthropy Grants to Local Organizations
W.C. Miller Collegiate's Youth in Philanthropy group has distributed a record $6,000 in grants to nine local organizations, marking the largest amount awarded by the school's committee to date. The funds were raised through various student-led initiatives, including a new alumni hockey fundraiser, and were matched by the Altona Community Foundation. The grants will support a range of community projects, such as playground improvements, culturally inclusive resources for children, and summer family programming. The initiative has also fostered leadership skills among students, with participants like Jacob Friesen-Stoesz and Shelby Penner noting the program's impact on their community involvement and awareness.
